Creating An Inspirational Life!
by Marije Miller
Why do some people achieve so much, success and
otherwise, while others maintain a mediocre level in their lives?
It may have to do with your risk taking level. Studies show that
the more comfortable you are about your abilities and your life,
the higher risks you are willing to take in your life. Testing yourself
in taking higher risks creates even more self-knowledge. And the
higher risks you take often means achieving higher outcomes. There
is still the possibility of failure, but apparently people who dare
to take more risks also have more faith in their capabilities to
a) achieve the goal and b) change supposed failures in a learning
process to achieve success after all. Truly inspired people won’t
stop at only one try. They use what they learn and continue until
they reach their goal. A great example is for instance Thomas Edison,
who failed thousands of times before truly inventing the light bulb!
What does inspiration have to do with our risk-taking
level? The fact is, that people who take risks inspire us. They
do something out of the ordinary, they break the mold and do or
create something against the odds (we do love the underdog!). They
offer us the hope that we, too, can pick ourselves up and create
something just as amazing! Or better! And for a moment we feel our
lives being full of opportunities just waiting for us to be discovered!
Ahh, the person we would actually be, if we would only allow ourselves
to follow our inspiration!
The trick here is to keep that moment going! So
that we become fully inspired by our own lives, because we find
ourselves worthy enough to take a risk and because we take a risk,
we become even more inspired about ourselves and we’re allowing
ourselves to take bolder risks and become even more inspired, and
so on. Living an inspirational life, you feel inspired to do, see,
create new moments for yourself and possibly the world. When you
create a new moment for yourself you take a certain amount of risk.
When you take a risk, fear can stop you or propel you to do something
you never thought you’d ever do or even be able to do. Hence,
taking risks is very inspirational. What inspires you about you?
This is a very powerful question someone asked me not too long ago.
And when I think about this deeply, what truly inspires me about
me is both my creativity as well my excitement to just jump into
new situations with both feet! What truly inspires you about You?
What brings a smile to your face when you think about that something
you really like about you?
Inspiration brings a tickle with it that wants
you to actually do something with it. Use it, play with it, whatever
it is. It allows you to try for something new. And that is where
knowing your risk-taking level comes in handy: a quick quiz to help
you assess where your real risks lie. Are you challenging yourself
enough or are you jumping in over your head? And what can you do
to create enough of a reserve, a safety net if you will, and still
feel your excitement!
The thing is, the risks that create the highest
outcomes are risks that are well thought out. The better you can
assess your risks, the more comfortable you are with taking them.
And the more comfortable and knowledgeable you become about yourself!
And isn’t that what it’s all about?!
